    Summary: 
    Use demonstrated expertise in material analysis to provide technical leadership for the Middletown facility QA Department with the aim of ensuring quality of raw materials for a large 24/7 protective packaging manufacturing facility. Supervise and support Quality Technician staff to maintain integrity of all raw material testing, analysis and tracking lab processes. Further develop the PA standards and procedures for daily material verification processes and lab equipment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Quality Systems
     Responsible for the technical standards and tests to produce and evaluate raw materials
     Responsible for understanding, complying, and updating the Quality Management System (QMS) as needed
     Develop and implement quality metrics to measure the performance of key material suppliers, including generating, distributing, and presenting Supplier Scorecards
     Formulate and maintain QA objectives in agreement with corporate policies and goals
     Ensure that all testing instruments are setup and operating correctly
     Responsible for ensuring departmental employees are trained and available to safely support the production department through testing, evaluation and processing of raw materials
     Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
     Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
     Apply TQM tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes
     Maintain QA lab, offices, retained samples and QA hold areas in a clean and organized state
     Establish work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow
     Assign duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
     Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
     Review and maintain records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures
     Purchase various QA supplies, continuously negotiates most favorable terms
     Participate effectively in team initiatives as a representative of Quality
     Responsible for communicating daily with all levels of employees to assist in resolving problems & achieving company goals

    Quality Products
     Analyze statistical data and product specifications to establish quality and reliability standards of raw materials
     Create and implement inspection criteria/procedures to ensure customer’s expectation of reliability and quality
     Work with Suppliers to provide corrective actions to eliminate chronic quality non-conformities or customer complaints
     Ensure that all non-compliant material is diagnosed and handled properly
     Ensure all new employees are trained relative to their Quality Awareness responsibilities
     Assist Sales with all aspects of customer technical service, including product development (R&D), product specification issues, development of new customers/opportunities
     Other duties as assigned

    Quality Material/Suppliers
     Responsible for the evaluation of all incoming raw materials
     Responsible for ensuring departmental employees are trained and available to safely support the production department through testing, evaluation and processing of raw materials
     Diagnose and handle properly all non-compliant material

    Team Management and Development
     Provide supervision, attendance tracking, time approval, and arrange shift coverage as needed for non-exempt Quality Tech II personnel per the PAC Employee Handbook and department guidelines
     Provide technical support for all non-exempt Quality personnel
     Design and conduct training sessions, as needed, for new/transferred employees and/or existing QA personnel
     Disposition accordingly, conforming and non-conforming materials per the appropriate documented Quality standards and procedures; this includes Supplier communication and assuring proper product identification, segregation, and transactional integrity
     Enter and assemble all required documentation, samples, and data to properly process material rejections, reworks, and corrective actions
     Enter, track, and report Supplier performance per established metrics
     Enter, track, and report Supplier corrective and preventive action requests including verification audits; assist in the investigation of corrective actions as needed
    Responsible for the gathering, filing, and storage of product/material samples and retains in accordance with the appropriate PAC standards and procedures
    Utilize knowledge of statistics and Microsoft Office to establish, maintain, and improve reporting methods and report formats
    Pursue resolution for malfunctioning lab and manufacturing testing equipment
    Establish the necessary process instructions and calibration processes for all new lab and manufacturing testing equipment

    Education and/or Experience                                                
     College Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
     2+ years of experience within Quality / Lab environment
     Knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 required
     Six-Sigma and TQM administration and application knowledge preferred
     Able to demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills

    Language Skills                                             
     Must have ability to read, write and understand English and speak effectively before groups
     Must be able to understand reports and correspondence
    Mathematical Skills                                                   
    The position must be able to perform business related mathematics
    Reasoning Ability                                           
    Advanced reasoning skills with the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in multiple types of situations required
    Computer Skills      
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and be willing to complete additional training.
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
     Valid driver’s license and passport, required, field related certifications preferred

     The environment is consistent with a manufacturing and office atmosphere. Heating is provided in the winter and basic cooling in the summer. Work may be required to be performed in other facilities.
